Jesus on Cross

Jesus on Cross
The chatolic christians who pray at the "Saint Anton" Church from Baia Mare can meditate and pray to a special crucifix. It's a cross on which is installed a corpus sculpted in walnut wood, representing Jesus Christ. The work of art was made by Mircea Rusu, a sculptor from Baia Mare. He affirms that it took seven months of work to be done.
What is different about this project is the fact that during the process, the artist didn't resprect any prebendary norm. The only principle, if we can call it that, the artist folowed was his soul. "I did this project for my soul, many times confusing myself with it", Mircea Rusu was saying. Judging by this, the central idea is the identification of every christian with Jesus's ardours.

The crucifix from "Saint Anton" is special for another reason. This is that it has been made by the contribution of several other persons aside from the sculptor. One of them is priest Simion Mesaros, the vicar of the church. He claims that for almost two months he was in search of a tree big enough for the cross where was going to be installed Jesus's body.
"We wanted to find a tree that would be brought here, in the church with his roots and everything, to use it as a cross. After long searches we found a cestnut tree that was whitered and from it was growing another cestnut tree. We thought this was our best choice because it reprezents death and life toghether, in fact the duality of our existence", said priest Mesaros.
The root of the tree that supports Jesus's corpus is placed in the church so as to make the impresion of a whole. This is suggesting that life and spirituality bring their sap from the grounds and walls of the church.

People "can watch and talk to a live Jesus"

In most of the works of art (sculptures or paintings), Jesus is prezented dead. The project for "Saint Anton" church reprezents a live Jesus whom is sitting and listening to everyones problems. Even the position of Jesus on the cross is chosen so as to make the impresion that He is listening and talking with the person that is standing besideds Him.
"The holy Bible states that Jesus stood three hours on the cross and during this time He was alive. More than that, He talked with the ones around Him. That is why the ones that will come to pray in front of this crucifix can communicate with a live Jesus, whom will tell them many more words than those written by the evangelists" said priest Simion Mesaros.
The artist Mircea Rusu added that he wanted to simbolise through this project life and that suffer is just a "valley", and the deeper it gets, the higher the "climb".
